Wihaan Phra Mongkol Bopit is home to Thailand's largest seated bronze Buddha.The great Buddha image is housed in a somewhat cramped wihaan, built in 1956 in the style of the original, which was destroyed in 1767.
The Buddha statue was either brought from Sukhothai or copied from a Sukhothai image. It was erected here in 1615 by King Ekatosarot, in honor of his brother Naresuan, who drove the Burmese from Sukhothai.
