Demised of venerable Luang Pu Hong 05-03-2014

Demise of Luang Pu Hong
This is such a sad news.. I wished it was a April Fool day joke..We thought we will get to see him after our return from France.

Saw from an article :

During the entire period when LP Hong was bedridden, LP not even once was heard complaining, grumbling or lamenting about his physical condition. Whenever anyone asked LP Hong how he was doing, LP Hong would always smile and reply "very well" despite the fact that he was already bedridden and immobile. Even though his body was failing him, LP Hong's mind and spirit were still as strong as ever.

That is just so him.. Always nice and caring, understanding and fatherly. Will always remembered his guidance and also what he had told us personally 10 years ago.

sharing- Dhammalaya Foundation

When the mind of each person in this world knows true peace, the world will know peace.
When the mind is peaceful it will start to see the true cause of peace, and at the same time the true cause of war.
With this clarity, we can finally put an end conflict, greed, and anger and usher in an era of peace. Once we know peace for ourselves, it will be reflected in our thoughts, our speech and in our actions. Love and good intention for mankind will arise and we will become the center of peace for people around like the sun shining warm light to big and small stars, both near and far. -- Luang Phaw Dhammajayo

Thai temple in bordeaux France

Finally after almost one year, after many visit to churches and cathedral and even Lourdes, we managed to find a Thai Buddhist Temple♥♥! Imagine the excitement knowing that there is one which is pretty near us, about 45 min drives!
Wat Bouddha Bordeaux,  a little temple in a residential area. We got it right using the help of GPS. Press bell and a young guy came to open the door and direct us to the main Hall. A small little area with a nice English speaking thai monk from the Southern Thailand, pattani. He is a friendly monk who had just been here for almost a year before he came from Germany and he spent 11 years in USA to promote the meditation and setting up of temple.
We had a good chat and he share not only his knowledge in Buddhism, views of current situation of Thailand, his experience in foreign countries and also he taught us basic meditation!

MEDITATION SYSTEM
Dhammakaya meditation in the tradition taught at Wat Pak Nam. The system is said to be an efficient way to purify the mind. One begins by bringing the attention to a point in the center of the body. A crystal ball or Buddha image is visualized as a //nimitta// (mental image); a mantra such as "Samma Araham" or "Buddho" can be used to further reduce mental chatter. As the mind becomes clearer, the wisdom inherent in the mind will manifest itself. It is this wisdom that's called "Dhammakaya."

Despite its his lunch time and knowing that this is the only time they can eat we decided to make a move. The young man Gabe me a book on the history of wat phra dhammakaya and a little card of Luang por wat pak nam. We Thank him and make our move.
Just as we are out at our car the young man ran out and said the monk had got something for us and ask me to go back. So we went back and feeling bad that we are disturbing his lunch. .:-( but he came out and gave us a little amulet and told me the miracles about it. As he know I can read English, he went into his room and gave me a book on dhamma 《 pages to happiness》and told me I can go back and borrow some of the book in English as he had alot of collection! *happy*♥♥*happy*!
I'm sure we will be back,  we felt so good after!

“合艾守护神”高僧阿赞通 金身疑遭人烧成灰

http://www.kwongwah.com.my/news/2012/02/22/21_1.jpg

Hat Yai 4 Faced Buddha!

I was very excited about this temple becos devotees can purchase fire crackers! YES Fire Crackers and light them up at the designated place, but... that day was BUDDHIST day and hence fire cracker is prohibited... sigh...

Anyway, we still pray there and purchase 2 wooden elephant for worshipping of Brahma. The view there was beautiful.

Highly revered monk Luangta Maha Bua Yanasampanno passed away early Sunday. He was 98 years old.
His followers at Wat Pa Ban Tad in Udon Thani said the abbot of the temple died at 3:53 am.
Luangta Maha Bua was born Bua Lohitdee on August 12, 1913 in Ban Tad, Udon Thani's Mak Khaeng district to a well-to-do farming family and had 15 siblings. At the age of 20, he was ordained as a monk on May 12, 1934, at Wat Yothanimit, according to the Thai tradition for his parents' merit.
Luangta Maha Bua, who was a student of much-respected Luangpu Man Phurithatto, is renowned for leading many fund-raising events for charitable causes and helping to restore the country's national reserves after they were depleted in the "Tom Yam Gung" financial crisis in 1997-98.

Hat Yai

Hat Yai Municipal Park (สวนสาธารณะเทศบาลเมืองหาดใหญ่) At the foot of the hill near the avarium stands the statue of King Rama V. And at the southern foothill near the boy scout camp stands the jade statue of Guan-yin, the Chinese Goddess.

Kwan Im Statue for those born in the year of Rabbit!

Went to Hat Yai because of the stainless steel temple. It's really worth going! Not only that, we went to the 4faced buddha and Kwan Yin at the hill top too!

Stainless Steel Temple in Hatyai

Came to know about this temple few month ago thru M'sia paper. A little curious but it just simply slip my mind. Then yesterday when i met up with this aunty from M'sia, she brought up the topic. She went there in early december and came back FRESH! Yes, according to her the "energy" there was strong and it really freshened her thoughts and also it helps alot in her meditation, very spritual and unexplainable! So she ask me to arrange a trip there with her. Very nice temple, especially at night.
According to the chinese paper, a very staunch buddhist couple , mediating one day and "saw" Buddha! Buddha said to him " Would you give up your piece of land and build a 3 storey high Chedi for all people to come and pray?" He committed to Buddha and begin to get plans draw up but the money needed was far more than he can afford. One day there is this old lady who came to him and offer a donation for him to build the temple. Guess all these are Buddha's will bring 2 strangers together to start the project. In 5th December 2005 they invited top monks from thailand for the ground breaking ceremony.

The 90% Stainless Steel built Pahama Hatat Jidee Thai Po Tham Mon Koon temple was completed in February 2006 ( total of 160days) cost approximately S$1m.

A Thai monk walks 20 kilometres on barefoot a day to remind those who pursue a material life to protect and concern about mother nature.

Master Jinshen started his journey from Hat Yat and arrived at Simpang on Sunday (31 Jan). After staying in Simpang for a night, he started to walk again the next day. He was heading to Singapore, Indonesia and Australia.
He stressed that his main purpose is to practice Buddhist rules and at the same time, lead the people to the path of virtue. It is also meant to develop the Buddhist spirit.
When he was staying in Simpang, he urged everyone to concern about and appreciate mother nature. Also, he promoted an environmental friendly and simple lifestyle of eating and consuming less but to walk more.
He said that he had visited many countries, including Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and India over the past 30 years. And he walked more than 10 thousand kilometres every year.
"Not many monks live an ascetic life nowadays. That's why everyone looks at me with curiosity as they think ascetic monks can only be found in books," he said.
He also said that he walks five to six hours for more than 10 kilometres everyday. He has no money but a lot of people give him alms. Although his soles are blistered and painful, he feels happy.
"Some people work hard everyday to earn money in order to pursue a material life. They destroy natural resources but they are not truly happy."
He said that it is applies to human relationships, too.
"As long as you treat others friendly and reduce hatred, you'll get a peaceful mind in return," he added.
He also advised people to be vegetarians for health purposes and to reduce killing lives.

Phuket Post :: Article :: Maintaining the Buddhist tone in Phuket

I like Buddha Statues, but would never BUY them and use them for decorative purpose. I've seen lots of little fountain in shop using Buddha head and honestly am not very comfortable with it. I always believe that Buddha is for us to pray and hold high respect and for using it as a ornament.
